- Act as a mentor when training junior team members
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full estimating process from bid documents through subcontractor buyout
- Prepare conceptual and detailed estimates for both negotiated and hard-bid projects
- Review bid documents and develop accurate, competitive proposals
- Build and manage subcontractor relationships, ensuring quality and compliance
- Lead and mentor junior estimating staff to build technical and professional capacity
- Evaluate subcontractor bids and supplier proposals for completeness and competitiveness
- Prepare and present value engineering recommendations
- Represent client in meetings with owners, architects, and engineers
- Complete subcontractor buyout and support operations turnover process
- Stay up to date on local code and permit requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 7–15+ years of estimating experience in commercial and healthcare construction
- Strong conceptual estimating skills and experience in both negotiated and hard-bid environments
- Proficient in Timberline or similar estimating software
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Willingness to travel to local and regional job sites as needed
