An ENR Top 25 General Contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator with at least 7+ years of commercial construction experience, including exposure to data center or mission critical projects. This position will focus on negotiated commercial and technical builds throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area, working closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors. You’ll oversee the full preconstruction process from conceptual budgeting through subcontractor buyout while helping deliver high-performance, cost-efficient projects in one of the fastest-growing construction markets in the country.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead estimating efforts from conceptual design through subcontractor award.
• Accurately develop budgets and detailed estimates for data centers, corporate offices, and other commercial facilities.
• Identify scope gaps and proactively provide complete, data-driven cost evaluations.
• Collaborate with clients and design teams to ensure accurate pricing, value options, and transparent communication throughout preconstruction.
• Develop cost-saving and constructability solutions for complex mechanical, electrical, and structural systems especially relevant to mission critical and high-MEP projects.
• Prepare conceptual and detailed estimates, variance reports, and value engineering analyses as design progresses.
• Manage bid solicitation, subcontractor proposal review, and final award recommendations.
• Support proposal efforts, RFP responses, and presentations to clients.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, suppliers, and owners in the data center and commercial sectors.
• Collaborate closely with project management and operations teams to ensure a seamless handoff into construction.

• 7+ years of experience as a commercial construction estimator, ideally including data center or mission critical project work.
• Strong understanding of MEP-intensive scopes, redundancy systems, and fast-track construction methods.
• Experience developing both conceptual and hard-bid estimates.
• Proficient with estimating and takeoff tools such as WinEst, Timberline (Sage), On-Screen Takeoff, and familiar with BIM-based tools (Revit, Assemble), CMiC, or Primavera.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and internal teams.
• Analytical, organized, and detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• A strong work ethic and a proactive, team-first approach.
