Niche SSP is partnering with a leading national engineering and construction firm seeking an experienced Estimating Section Manager to lead its Water & Wastewater preconstruction and estimating operations in Kansas City. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estimating and preconstruction team, overseeing workloads, performance, and professional development.
• Take ownership of pricing and estimating strategies for water and wastewater projects.
• Oversee conceptual and detailed estimates, cost modeling, bid reviews, and project budgets.
• Manage preconstruction activities, including scheduling, risk assessments, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
• Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, clients, and internal project teams.
• Lead preconstruction strategy meetings, ensuring accurate pricing, risk mitigation, and competitive proposals.
• Work closely with engineering, business development, and operations teams to support project delivery.
• Manage departmental budgets, financial performance, and resource planning.
• Oversee the transition of projects from preconstruction through to operations.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in design and/or project management.
• Ideally 10+ years of experience in estimating or preconstruction within the water and wastewater sector.
• Previous leadership or management experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of conceptual estimating, detailed cost estimates, project scheduling, and risk management.
• Experience with various project delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build and collaborative delivery models.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general estimating software.
• Experience with Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, Agtek, or PlanSwift is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
