About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Preconstruction Manager to lead all preconstruction activities for large-scale commercial projects. In this role, you will oversee a team of estimators and preconstruction engineers, manage multi-million-dollar budget proposals, coordinate with operations and design teams, and serve as the primary strategic advisor throughout the preconstruction phase. This position provides significant leadership responsibility, visibility with senior management, and the chance to drive process improvements across high-value projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction efforts for large commercial projects, managing all aspects of estimating and budgeting
• Supervise and mentor a team of preconstruction professionals, including Senior Estimators and Engineers
• Develop and implement preconstruction strategies in collaboration with operations and project management teams
• Conduct constructability and design-assist reviews at all phases of design development
• Manage subcontractor solicitation, evaluation, and selection for preconstruction pursuits
• Prepare preliminary subcontract language, scopes of work, and procurement strategies
• Serve as primary A/E/O point of contact during preconstruction
• Lead budget presentations and negotiations with clients
• Ensure all preconstruction deliverables are complete, accurate, and delivered on time
• Drive process improvements and standardization in preconstruction procedures and estimating practices

• B.S. in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
• 10+ years of commercial construction experience
• 5+ years in a senior preconstruction or senior estimating role on large-scale projects ($25M+)
• Proven leadership experience managing preconstruction teams and mentoring staff
• Strong understanding of preconstruction standards, procedures, and best practices
• Proficiency in estimating software and tools such as On-Screen Takeoff, EarthWorks Pro, and Microsoft Project
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
• Experience with diverse delivery methods, including hard-bid, CM at Risk, and design-assist
