The business is continuing to grow and is looking to add an experienced Preconstruction Manager to its Orlando team. The Role
As Preconstruction Manager, you will take ownership of the preconstruction process on commercial projects up to approximately $50M, working closely with clients, architects, subcontractors, operations teams, and internal preconstruction staff.
You will be responsible for developing accurate estimates from early design through construction documents, managing scope and cost against project budgets, leading subcontractor procurement, and supporting successful project pursuits.
The role also provides an opportunity to lead and mentor junior preconstruction professionals while playing an active part in client development and winning new work.

Duties
- Lead and manage the preconstruction process from schematic design through construction documents and project buyout.
- Develop conceptual, schematic, design development, and detailed estimates based on available project information.
- Prepare and manage General Conditions and Construction Requirements estimates where required.
- Develop detailed scopes of work for major subcontractor trades.
- Lead subcontractor solicitation, scope review, negotiations, and procurement.
- Monitor project scope and costs against established budgets and identify potential variances or risks.
- Work closely with operations teams to coordinate logistics, scheduling, staffing, and project requirements.
- Support project leadership with preconstruction activities on larger and more complex projects.
- Review project documents and identify commercial, contractual, schedule, insurance, safety, and construction risks.
- Develop RFQ and RFP responses, including written narratives and supporting information.
- Present estimates, budgets, value engineering recommendations, and pursuit strategies to clients and project stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
- Partner with Business Development to identify and pursue new opportunities.
- Contribute to client development efforts and help strengthen existing relationships.
- Take a leadership role in pursuing new opportunities and developing leads where appropriate.
- Train, mentor, and support junior members of the preconstruction team.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives involving processes, technology, and project delivery.
- Represent the company within relevant professional organizations and local industry/community initiatives.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or a closely related construction role.
- Background with a commercial general contractor and/or major subcontractor.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven experience successfully leading projects from award through subcontractor buyout.
- Experience overseeing and developing junior preconstruction or estimating professionals.
- Strong experience with negotiated/CM and lump-sum project delivery.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully supporting and winning project pursuits.
- Ability to develop conceptual and programmatic estimates quickly with limited project information.
- Strong understanding of local construction practices, means and methods, subcontractor markets, and buyout strategies.
- Experience utilizing 3D models and BIM as part of the preconstruction process.
- Advanced proficiency with estimating and preconstruction technology such as Destini Estimator, On-Screen Takeoff, BIM, and Excel, or comparable platforms.
- Experience with Procore, Revit, and/or SketchUp is advantageous.
- Design-build experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of project risk, including contractual, insurance, schedule, safety, and construction considerations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the confidence to engage directly with clients and project stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across preconstruction, operations, design, and business development teams.
- Genuine interest in construction technology, innovation, integrated project delivery, and process improvement.
- Willingness to contribute to the wider construction community through professional organizations or industry involvement.
- Must be willing to work in a team-oriented environment and take ownership of project outcomes.
