Role Description

This is an opportunity for a driven preconstruction professional to take ownership of a growing department and play a key role in the continued growth of the business. The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial estimating and preconstruction experience, leadership ability, and the desire to have a meaningful impact beyond simply managing estimates. Working closely with ownership and supporting an existing preconstruction team, this person will help develop processes, mentor team members, and bring a high level of expertise to a growing organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage preconstruction activities from concept through final estimate
• Oversee estimating strategy, budgeting, bid preparation, and cost analysis
• Mentor and support a team of preconstruction professionals
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and trade partners
• Manage subcontractor solicitation, bid leveling, and scope reviews
• Provide value engineering solutions and support project planning decisions
• Collaborate with ownership, clients, design teams, and project teams throughout the preconstruction process
• Help improve and implement processes, systems, and best practices within the department
• Support the continued growth of the company’s private sector project portfolio

• Commercial General Contractor preconstruction experience required
• Strong background in estimating and preconstruction management
• Experience leading conceptual estimates, budgets, and proposals
• Ability to manage projects ranging from approximately $1M–$10M+
• Experience across commercial sectors such as healthcare, education, aviation, office renovations, tenant improvements, or mixed-use preferred
• Strong subcontractor and trade partner relationships, ideally within the Tampa market
• Previous leadership, mentoring, or team management experience preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Someone who is collaborative, coachable, and aligned with a team-first culture
• Ability and desire to operate successfully within a smaller, entrepreneurial construction environment
