
Preconstruction Director - Fort Lauderdale, FL
Client
An established and forward-thinking General Contractor with a strong presence throughout the state is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead major pursuits and manage the growth of the estimating function in their Fort Lauderdale office.
This is a senior leadership role for an experienced preconstruction professional who can take responsibility for strategy, team management, and high-level client relationships. The company is active in the public sector and institutional markets. You’ll play a central role in shaping the company’s approach in South Florida or the Gulf Coast and help build a sustainable pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Lead all preconstruction activities across assigned region or office
- Direct estimating strategy for CMAR, hard bid, and negotiated pursuits
- Serve as a client-facing leader in pre-bid and design development meetings
- Manage and mentor a growing team of Preconstruction Managers and Estimators
- Coordinate closely with operations and business development on key pursuits
- Develop and maintain subcontractor relationships and market intelligence
- Lead the preparation of budgets, cost models, and conceptual estimates

Requirements
- 8–15+ years of experience in estimating or preconstruction with a commercial GC
- Proven leadership capabilities and experience managing preconstruction teams
- Deep knowledge of Florida’s public construction markets, especially South Florida or Gulf Coast
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients and internal teams
- Ability to manage multiple complex bids simultaneously and deliver under pressure
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
