Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual, budgetary, and detailed electrical estimates throughout all phases of project development
- Develop accurate quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and design documentation
- Perform cost benchmarking and market analysis to support early project planning
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals, ensuring scope completeness and pricing accuracy
- Partner with Procurement teams throughout the bid evaluation and purchasing process
- Support value engineering initiatives by identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising project objectives
- Analyze project risks, scope gaps, and constructability considerations during the estimating process
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Construction, Scheduling, Cost Controls, and Project Management teams
- Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and pricing benchmarks
- Assist in procurement planning and contract award recommendations
- Support project teams throughout preconstruction and early construction phases
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Heavy Civil Estimator with a General Contractor or Heavy Civil Contractor
- Strong experience estimating large-scale site development and civil infrastructure projects
- Proven background in earthwork, grading, utilities, concrete, paving, drainage, and structural civil works
- Experience preparing conceptual through detailed construction estimates
- Ability to interpret civil drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods for heavy civil projects
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large capital expenditure proects
- Background in industrial, manufacturing, automotive, semiconductor, energy, or large infrastructure developments
- Previous experience with owner-side project controls or estimating teams
- Experience collaborating closely with procurement and construction teams throughout project delivery
- Familiarity with estimating software and advanced Microsoft Excel
- Experience evaluating subcontractor bids and developing procurement strategies for civil packages
