The client is a well-established utility construction contractor delivering power transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure across the East Coast. The business supports electric utility owners directly and operates within a larger national platform, while maintaining a tight-knit, relationship-driven culture at the regional level.The estimating team has strong tenure and minimal turnover. Due to new contract awards and a growing 2026 workload, the client is hiring 2 additional estimators.

Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for electric utility construction projects
- Estimate transmission, distribution, and substation work, including overhead and underground scopes
- Lead civil estimating inside substations, including duct bank, concrete encased duct bank, foundations, drilled piers, pads, and work inside the fence
- Develop labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor pricing using historical data, productivity rates, and utility unit pricing
- Support unit-price, lump-sum, and program-based utility contracts
- Assist with estimating long-term utility programs and task-order driven work
- Participate in site visits to assess constructability, access, and field conditions
- Support change order pricing and scope adjustments
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and project teams to validate estimating assumptions
- Maintain organized bid documentation for internal reviews and utility audits
Requirements
- 2-10 years of experience.
- Experience in transmission, distribution, and or substation estimating strongly preferred
- Civil estimating experience highly valued, especially substation civil scopes
- Ability to read and interpret utility drawings, specifications, and standards
- Familiarity with power delivery construction methods and materials
- Experience with estimating and bidding software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
