Responsibilities
- Evaluate project costs during all preconstruction phases, from conceptual to detailed estimates
- Projects include - higher education, institutional, office, retail, healthcare, warehouse/manufacturing, and multifamily sectors
- Calculate quantities and costs for labor, materials, and equipment
- Research pricing and prepare competitive estimates for hard bid and negotiated projects
- Develop and price scopes for self-performed work
- Prepare detailed bid packages, solicit subcontractor bids, and award contracts
- Conduct risk assessments and constructability reviews
- Develop conceptual and schematic estimates using building systems knowledge and cost data
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and industry professionals
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure alignment of scope, budget, and constructability
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 7–10 years of commercial construction estimating experience
- Strong understanding of all facets of commercial construction (higher-ed, institutional, office, retail, healthcare, warehouse/manufacturing, multifamily)
- Knowledge of the Pittsburgh market preferred but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Microsoft Project, and digital takeoff/estimating tools
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications (BIM familiarity a plus)
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively
