Senior Preconstruction Manager - Tampa, FL
Client
An established, nationally recognised general contractor with a strong presence across Florida is expanding its preconstruction team to support significant growth across the region.
With a long-standing track record in large-scale construction and a substantial pipeline of upcoming projects, the business offers the opportunity to join an established team at an exciting stage of its continued expansion.
Role
The company is seeking an experienced Senior Preconstruction Manager to oversee estimating and preconstruction activities across major vertical construction projects in Tampa.
Reporting to the Director of Preconstruction, you will take ownership of your assigned projects, leading estimating efforts from early design through GMP while working closely with subcontractors, operations teams and senior leadership.
This is a hands-on, production-focused role suited to an experienced preconstruction professional who can independently manage complex estimates, drive value engineering and deliver reliable cost plans across large-scale construction projects.
Unlike the Chief Preconstruction Manager position, this role does not have direct personnel management responsibilities. It offers the opportunity to work on significant projects within an established team and a growing regional operation.
On Offer
- Base salary of approximately $145,000–$165,000, depending on experience.
- Annual bonus potential of 25% of base salary.
- $800 monthly vehicle allowance.
- 401(k) programme with company matching and additional discretionary profit sharing, subject to plan eligibility and terms.
- Exposure to major projects typically valued between $50M and $250M.
- Close collaboration with senior leadership, project executives, operations teams and subcontractors.
- Long-term opportunities as the regional business expands its project portfolio and preconstruction team.
Responsibilities
- Lead estimating and preconstruction activities across assigned projects from conceptual design through GMP.
- Prepare and review detailed cost estimates, budgets and pricing strategies.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers and design teams to develop accurate and competitive pricing.
- Identify and evaluate value engineering opportunities to improve cost efficiency without compromising quality or project objectives.
- Review drawings, specifications and design development to identify scope gaps, constructability concerns and cost risks.
- Develop and maintain cost plans as projects progress through the design process.
- Collaborate with project executives, senior project managers and operations teams during budgeting and GMP development.
- Support bid reviews, subcontractor negotiations and project procurement strategies.
- Manage multiple estimating assignments while maintaining accuracy, deadlines and commercial objectives.
- Present estimating findings, cost updates and recommendations to internal stakeholders and project leadership.
Requirements
- Significant experience in commercial construction estimating and preconstruction management.
- Strong background in large-scale vertical construction, ideally multifamily, high-rise residential, condominiums or hospitality.
- Experience estimating or managing preconstruction for projects broadly in the $50M–$250M range.
- Proven capability across conceptual estimating, detailed budgeting, value engineering, cost planning and GMP development.
- Strong subcontractor relationships and experience obtaining, reviewing and negotiating trade pricing.
- Ability to manage projects independently and collaborate effectively with operations and senior leadership.
- Strong analytical, communication and commercial decision-making skills.
- Ability to work full-time from the company's Tampa office.
