Position Overview
The Preconstruction Manager plays a critical role in leading project planning efforts from early concept through final pricing while acting as a key point of contact for clients during preconstruction. This individual will manage estimating, coordinate internal and external teams, and help guide clients through budgeting, design decisions, and scope alignment.This is an ideal opportunity for someone ready to take ownership of projects and step into a more client-facing leadership role while working on complex, high-profile builds.
Key Responsibilities
Client Guidance & Preconstruction Leadership
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients during preconstruction phases
- Help guide clients through budgeting, design development, and scope decisions
- Provide clear, data-driven recommendations to align cost, schedule, and project goals
- Support and participate in client meetings, presentations, and strategy discussions
Estimating & Cost Management
- Lead conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimating efforts
- Oversee quantity take-offs, pricing, and cost analysis
- Develop and manage project budgets from early design through GMP
- Identify risks, gaps, and value engineering opportunities
Project Planning & Coordination
- Lead constructability reviews, logistics planning, and scheduling coordination
- Collaborate with design teams to ensure alignment between design intent and budget
- Drive preconstruction timelines and deliverables
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or construction management with a General Contractor
- Experience leading preconstruction efforts on mid-to-large scale projects
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing
- Proven ability to interact with and guide clients during early project phases
- Experience with quantity take-offs, budgeting, and cost control
- Proficiency with OST, Bluebeam, Procore, and/or BIM platforms
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
