Role

The company is seeking an experienced Chief Preconstruction Manager to lead a team of preconstruction professionals in Tampa, overseeing estimating strategy, cost planning and preconstruction delivery across a portfolio of major projects.

Reporting to the Director of Preconstruction, you will play a key role in leading the team, collaborating closely with senior leadership and operations, and ensuring projects are competitively priced, thoroughly evaluated and positioned for successful delivery.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience, a background in large-scale vertical construction, and the technical expertise to guide complex preconstruction efforts from early design through GMP.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a team of preconstruction and estimating professionals.
• Oversee estimating, budgeting and cost planning from conceptual design through GMP.
• Direct value engineering, cost optimisation and scope review activities.
• Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive and aligned with project requirements.
• Collaborate with operations leadership, project executives, senior project managers and subcontractors throughout preconstruction.
• Support project pursuits, bid strategies and client-facing preconstruction discussions.
• Review design development, constructability and potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Establish consistent estimating processes, standards and best practices across the team.
• Manage workload, resource allocation and estimating priorities across multiple projects.
• Contribute to the continued growth and development of the regional preconstruction department.

• Significant experience in commercial construction preconstruction and estimating, including leadership of estimating teams.
• Strong background in large-scale vertical construction, ideally multifamily, high-rise residential, condominiums or hospitality.
• Experience overseeing projects broadly in the $50M–$250M range.
• Demonstrated expertise in conceptual estimating, budgeting, value engineering, cost planning and GMP development.
• Experience collaborating with operations teams, executive leadership, subcontractors and clients.
• Strong commercial judgement, communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• A collaborative leadership style suited to a highly integrated, office-based preconstruction environment.
• Ability to work full-time from the company's Tampa office.
