The Fun in A Construction Estimator Job

Despite post-pandemic troubles, construction estimators find rewards in several aspects of their job. More in this exciting survey!

A construction estimator job may have become nerve-racking because of a number of post-pandemic problems, but not without rewards and joys.

Not the monetary rewards and joys as you may think, but the ones that give you a sense of accomplishment or, probably, make you smile over getting a job done well.

Niche SSP ran a survey about the “most rewarding and enjoyable” aspect of a construction estimator job. And the results are not at all dismal.

The results show that construction estimators enjoyed meeting clients, wrapping up assignments, and carving out a perfect building plan are some of the results the survey returned.

Out of 1,425 construction estimators Niche SSP interviewed, 26 percent said the most rewarding and enjoyable part of their job was meeting the clients. For them, joy comes through sharing.

Another 26 percent of the construction estimators said ‘construction takeoff’ was the most rewarding aspect of their job. That’s what construction estimators work hard to achieve: bind together all the complex components of a construction project for its successful completion.

And 24 percent of the construction estimators feel that the most rewarding part of a construction estimator job was working on the initial/conceptual estimate of a project.

For them, nothing is more exciting than embarking upon a new journey.

It’s the thrill of completing and handing over a project after days of hard work, said another 24 percent of the estimators. Construction estimators work hard to help their companies secure new construction projects by preparing bids.

Inflation, a spike in prices of materials, and staff shortages constitute some of the most challenging factors for estimators to calculate during the bidding process.
