Stack Estimating Software or Stack ct is construction estimator software that boasts the ability to serve preconstruction professionals working across a range of operations. That is all the way from general contractors to home builders and trade subcontractors.
Cloud-based, with a cent hub, means teams stay in sync throughout the estimating and takeoff phase. On-site or on the move. A powerful search function also means you can search plans and specs to quickly find the info you need.
At Niche SSP we believe construction technology should make people's lives easier, not harder. We believe that construction estimator software should empower pre construction professionals to do their best work, not get in their way.
So let's dive into the specifics.
Plan, Spec & Document Management: All project plans and specs are stored in a centralised hub, meaning hard-to-manage blueprints and file servers filled with hard-to-find assets become a thing of the past. A powerful search function means finding what you need quickly and works.
It's easy to overlay plan versions to avoid having to completely redo takeoffs. A set of markup and measuring tools saves time, along with automation tools like AutoCount & a suite of pre-built templates & materials.
Professional proposal formatting comes built-in, so bids look great too.
Callout & markup tools allow you to address key details and shared project access allows everyone to stay aligned.
How much does Stack cost?
The stack for precon teams starts at $5,499.00. This allows for 3 Full Access users & 6 View-Only users. Unlimited projects and integrated cost data are included.
How much is Stack per month?
Stack only offers annual pricing at $5,499, but broken down that would equate to $458.25 which is comparable to other leading construction estimating software offers.
Alongside the paid plan, Stack does offer a free tier to help in evaluating the software. In fact, after creating a simple login and clicking on the confirmation email you can begin creating your first project straight away.

Stack ct maintains a decent YouTube channel - useful whether you're new to the software or an advanced user as they have multiple video walkthroughs for various features and integrations. They also maintain a help centre (https://help.stackct.com/en/) that covers everything from how to use items, assemblies, and catalogs to how to create takeoffs from start to finish.
Alongside training Stack does offer live support via phone, email, or chat
As Stack software is cloud-based, there's no actual software to download. Simply create an account and you're ready to start your first project in your preferred browser
Stack scores 3.8 out of 5 on G2.com. As you'll find from most of the top reviews - the ability to improve Takeoffs is often cited as its strongest feature.
What is Stack Takeoff?
Stack Takeoff is a portion of the Stack construction estimating software that allows you to quickly and accurately perform takeoffs and is often cited as the software's strongest feature.
Planswift certainly beats Stack on price at $ 1,913 vs $5,499 for the year. Thought this would be $3185 with the equivalent number of users, which are billed at $318 each. Though this still brings Planswift under Stack's pricing by -$2314. But, there are several features that it's also lacking in comparison. Mac compatibility is one area where it falls down (certainly an issue with mixed teams). And although Planswift's data is cloud-based, it does require installed software on a windows device. Some reviews complain it also relies on Internet Explorer though this may have been updated. However, as more software begins to offer mobile compatibility in the form of apps or simply optimized mobile pages -you can see how this might be an issue with future-proofing.
Stack Construction Technologies is the company behind Stack, based in Cincinnati. New York firm Level Equity reportedly invested $7 Million in 2017 and the March 2022 announcement (https://www.stackct.com/blog/level-equity-doubles-down-on-construction-technology-investment/) that they have doubled their investment is a confident sign in the software's future.
